Workspaces and folders
Each organisation has file areas with their own security mode. Governed rooms encrypt every version and refuse shortcuts that would strip the controls off the file.
Daily work
Folders people recognise. Versions they can name. Documents opened without ferrying copies around. A calendar that knows when a share or a signature is due. Governance stays in that workplace.

In the workspace
A workspace keeps the folders, the versions, the comments and the rules that belong to the work. It remains after the transaction closes.
Each organisation has file areas with their own security mode. Governed rooms encrypt every version and refuse shortcuts that would strip the controls off the file.
Every save is a numbered version. Shares, signatures, comments and later questions all refer to a specific one — never to a vague “whatever is latest”.
Find a file by name, return to what you opened this week, pin the ones that matter. The list in the folder stays the place you work — classification and retention are applied to those same files.
PDF opens read-only in the browser. Text and similar files open when policy allows. You check the document; you do not scatter copies onto desktops.
Word, spreadsheet and presentation files open from Casewelt. That is Casewelt’s editor. It does not require a Microsoft 365 licence.
Create a new Word, spreadsheet, presentation or plain-text file in the folder you are already in. It is a governed file from the first save.
Around the file
Leave a note on a file, assign a task, keep the discussion on the version it was about. Colleagues see it in the workspace, not in a side-channel inbox.
Uploads, shares, signatures waiting on you, inbound files that landed. Your dashboard and inbox are the same product as the folders.
Share expiries, signature due dates and notes for a given day live in one calendar. You can set a reminder without exporting the file to someone else’s tool.
Send a named person a door into one folder. They prove their mailbox, upload, and never see the rest of the workspace. The request expires.
Hand a file to a colleague or a group without making an external share. It stays inside the organisation, still under the same authorisation checks.
Where your organisation has granted it, people can publish and watch interactive video from the same workspace — still served by Casewelt, still recorded.
Standing workplace
Casewelt is built for content that still matters next year: classified, shareable under policy, signable, and queryable when someone asks who saw it.
Editing, comments, calendar and inbound requests sit next to retention and legal hold. The day-to-day stays familiar. The decisions stay written down.
An afternoon
Finance drops a first PDF into Board & Governance. It is version 1 the moment it lands. Counsel opens it in the browser, leaves a comment on the numbers page, and assigns a task to the company secretary. Nobody emails a copy around “just this once”.
The secretary opens the same file in the browser editor and saves. That is version 2. A share that already went out on version 1 does not quietly become Tuesday’s draft. The two auditors still have what they were approved to see.
A supplier is asked for the insurance certificate. The request is a door into one folder. They prove the mailbox, upload, and disappear. The certificate sits next to the board pack. Quota still applied. The workspace was never on their screen.
Someone tries to download the whole folder to a laptop “to work on the train”. Policy refuses that. The session stays valid. The refusal is recorded as a policy decision.

Bring a pack your team lives in. We will open it, edit it, comment, request a file back, and show the record afterwards.
